RingIt makes your phone ring loudly even on silent, Do Not Disturb or sleep mode, when someone you have invited taps once in their own app. It uses critical alerts on iOS and a bypassing alert channel on Android. It rings the phone, it does not show where the phone is.
Never Lose Your Phone Again
A phone on silent does not answer a call, which is exactly the situation most people are in when
they start looking for it. RingIt exists for that case: it makes the phone ring anyway.
How RingIt Works
RingIt is simple:
- Install RingIt on your phone.
- Add the people who should be able to ring it, by email. They get an invite, and once they accept,
they can ring that phone from theirs.
- When you can't find it, they tap once and it rings, even on silent.
On iPhone that runs on critical alerts, the mechanism Apple built for notifications that must get
through. On Android it uses an alert channel that bypasses silent and Do Not Disturb.
What it does not do
RingIt makes noise. It does not show a location, a map or a last-seen place, and it cannot help when
the phone is switched off or has no connection at all, because the ring arrives as a push
notification. For a phone left in a taxi you want Find My iPhone or Find My Device. The two are
complementary.

Frequently asked questions
Find My iPhone and Find My Device both have a Play Sound that ignores the ringer, and both have to be turned on before the phone goes missing. RingIt does the same thing on request: someone you invited taps once and the phone rings through silent, Do Not Disturb and sleep mode. All three need setting up in advance.
In RingIt you add them by email and pick the device they may ring. They get an invite, and only once they accept can they ring that phone. Giving someone permission does not let you ring theirs; they have to add you separately. You can mute a person for an hour, a day, a week or forever, or remove them.
Yes. RingIt treats your own devices the same as anyone else's, so an old phone or a tablet in a drawer can ring your main phone. Both devices need to be signed in to the same account and online. If you live alone, that spare device is the one thing worth setting up before you need it.
Yes. Find My iPhone and Find My Device are free and built in, and their Play Sound works with the ringer off. Ringing a phone with RingIt is free as well. What none of them do is work retroactively: every option here has to be switched on while the phone is still in your hand.
Critical alerts are a notification type Apple reserves for things that must not be missed. They play a sound and appear even when the phone is muted or a Focus is on, and an app needs Apple's permission to send them. You turn them on per app under Settings > Notifications, and iOS asks you the first time.
