RingIt Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 21/07/2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Modavi ("we", "our", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the RingIt mobile application ("App"), available on iOS and Android.
By creating an account or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Data Controller
The data controller responsible for your personal data is:
Modavi
Belgium
Email: [email protected]
2. Eligibility and Age
RingIt is rated 4+ on app stores and is safe for all ages.
However, if you are under 13 years old, a parent or legal guardian must create and manage your account. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without parental consent.
If we discover that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 without consent, we will delete it. Parents or guardians may contact [email protected] to request deletion.
3. Information We Collect
We collect only the information necessary to operate RingIt:
- Account details: first name, last name, email address, password.
- Device details: device name, device identifier, push notification token.
- Permissions: records of which users are allowed to ring which devices.
- Usage history: ping/ring logs including timestamps, initiator, and target device.
- Preferences: mute settings, quiet hours, and other notification preferences.
- Subscription status: whether you have an active Premium subscription or Lifetime purchase, the plan type, and a purchase/subscription identifier. This is provided to us by our subscription provider (see Section 6).
We do not collect:
- Location data
- Contacts from your device
- Payment card data. Payments are processed entirely by Apple, Google, and our subscription provider; we never see or store your card or bank details.
4. Legal Basis for Processing
We process your personal data under the following legal bases (as applicable under the GDPR):
- Contract: To provide and manage the App's core functionality, including your account and any subscription you purchase.
- Legitimate Interest: To maintain security, prevent abuse, and improve our services.
- Consent: For optional features such as push notifications (you may withdraw consent at any time).
- Legal Obligation: To comply with applicable legal, tax, and accounting requirements relating to purchases.
5. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account.
- Enable you to ring other users' devices (if permitted) and allow others to ring your device (if permitted).
- Send push notifications, including Critical Alerts, to help locate devices.
- Provide, manage, and restore your Premium subscription or Lifetime purchase.
- Maintain logs for security, troubleshooting, and abuse prevention.
- Respond to support requests.
6. Payments and Subscriptions
RingIt offers an optional paid Premium subscription and a one-time Lifetime purchase. Payments are handled entirely by the app stores and our subscription-management provider:
- Apple (App Store) and Google (Google Play) act as the seller and payment processor. They collect and process your payment details under their own privacy policies. We never receive your payment card or bank information.
- RevenueCat, Inc. is our subscription-management provider. It processes a limited set of data on our behalf — such as an app-specific user identifier and your purchase/subscription status — so that we can unlock Premium features, restore purchases, and keep your subscription status up to date. RevenueCat acts as a data processor on our behalf; Modavi remains the data controller.
We use this data only to provide and manage your subscription and to understand aggregate subscription performance. We do not use it for advertising.
7. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell or rent your information. We share it only with:
- Other users, at your direction. To make the core feature work, limited information — such as your name and device name — is visible to the users you authorize to ring your device, and to the owners of devices you are authorized to ring. You control these permissions and can revoke them at any time in the App.
- Service providers who help us operate the App:
- Hosting provider (dedicated Windows server)
- Email provider (SendGrid)
- Push notification delivery service (Google / Firebase Cloud Messaging and Apple Push Notification service)
- Subscription management (RevenueCat)
- In-app purchase and billing (Apple, Google)
- Law enforcement or regulatory bodies when required by law.
All service providers are bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations.
8. International Data Transfers
Some of our service providers (including RevenueCat, Apple, and Google) are based in, or process data in, countries outside the European Economic Area, including the United States, which may not offer an equivalent level of data protection.
Where such transfers occur, they are protected by appropriate safeguards approved under the GDPR, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. Retention
We keep account, device, permission, and usage log data indefinitely, unless you request deletion. Purchase and subscription records are kept as long as needed to provide the service and to meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
Upon verified request, we will delete your personal data within 30 days (or as required by applicable law), except where retention is necessary for legal, security, or operational reasons.
10. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access and receive a copy of your personal data.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Restrict or object to processing.
- Request data portability.
- Withdraw consent (where processing is based on consent).
To exercise these rights, contact [email protected].
We may require you to verify your identity before processing your request. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In Belgium, this is the Data Protection Authority (Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit / Autorité de protection des données, gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit.be).
11. Security
We implement technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and monitoring for unauthorized access.
While we strive to protect your data, no system is completely secure.
12. Children's Privacy
As stated in Section 2, under-13 users must have accounts created and managed by a parent or legal guardian.
Parents may request deletion of their child's data by emailing [email protected].
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you via the App or email before they take effect.
The "Effective Date" at the top will indicate the latest version.
